Civil Law in the Philippines
Civil law or otherwise known as common law is the field of law that deals with non criminal law. This branch of law is based on rules and concepts gotten from Roman law. There is also some degree of influence from canon law as well as cultural laws. This law seeks to promote cooperation with regard to relationships among people.
In continental law, duties and rights of human beings, things and organizations are clearly expressed. Accessibility, simplicity and rules disclosure are also emphasized. Disputes that occur between individual parties or acts of negligence which may be intended to harm one person but in turn impacts on all are settled by judges in a court of law using common law codes. Normally, the judge plays a role of ruling out who is at fault and or who is right.
Common law codes are put in practice by specialized attorneys who operate in well established law firms or in the public judiciary sector. A good civil law attorney should endeavor to bring justice to his or her clients.
